A long time ago, as a young woman of twenty-five, I met Kim Beazley Senior. A brief meeting, it must be said, but one in which an impressionable young woman was most impressed. What impressed me was the way I believe that I could feel his spiritual presence. A good man.
Now, at the age of 90, he is gone from us. He was the last direct and personal link to the Chifley Government. From one meeting, a small piece of my heart was forever his. A State Funeral is expected to be held in Perth on Saturday.
